Die Heimliche Heilerin und die Toten

Historical Novel

Cologne 1402: In the evening there is a knock on the door of the Goldmann family's townhouse. It is a carrier of the archbishop with an urgent message: Madlen, the "secret healer," has to come to a woman with labour pains. The circumstances are curious: Madlen has to blindfold herself so that she does not know which house the child is born in, and she is also required to maintain absolute silence. She succeeds in giving birth to the child, but after the little girl's first cry, guards rush in without warning and wrest the newborn from Madlen.

Did the Archbishop really ordered this? Madlen has no time to reflect the situation. The men come back and she realises that not only the life of the baby, but also that of the mother and her own are in serious danger.
