Cologne in 1534: An unusual court procedure keeps the city in suspense: The Londoner businessman Richard Charman takes the widow of a draper, named Agnes Imhoff, to court, in order to clear a debt of her husband Andreas, who died under mysterious circumstances. It is possible, that Agnes will lose everything. When she tried to prove her innocence on the action of her husband, a family drama is revealed and bit by bit deadly intrigues, lies and political interdependencies, which lead to the British royal dynasty, are popping up.

Though at last oneself is questioning: Who is Agnes Imhoff – victim or offender?
